Why Jal Neti?

Jal Neti is perhaps the simplest way to cleanse your respiratory system and improve the way you breathe

Frequently Asked Questions!

Jal Neti is a yogic cleansing technique that involves rinsing the nasal passages with lukewarm saline water using a specialized pot called a “Neti pot” to clear mucus and allergens from the sinuses, promoting better breathing.

Active infections: Do not perform Jal Neti if you have a cold, sinus infection, or any active nasal inflammation.

Nasal injuries: Avoid Jal Neti if you have recent nasal surgery or a deviated septum.

Bleeding nose: If you experience frequent nosebleeds, consult a doctor before practicing Jal Neti.

Use non-iodized sea salt or a commercially prepared saline solution specifically designed for nasal irrigation.

Prepare the solution: Mix a small amount of non-iodized salt (like sea salt) in warm water to create a saline solution.

Position yourself:
Tilt your head to one side over a sink, gently insert the spout of the Neti pot into the upper nostril, and let the water flow through the nasal passage, exiting the other nostril.

Repeat: Repeat on the other side, ensuring the water flows smoothly through the nasal passages.

Ideally, practice Jal Neti in the morning on an empty stomach for optimal results.

  • Gently blow your nose to remove any remaining water.

  • Consider performing a few rounds of Kapalbhati pranayama to further clear the nasal passages.
